The Ses Platgetes beach on Formentera is a cluster of small coves separated by rocky areas on the eastern part of the island, specifically in Es Caló de Sant Agustí. The composition of all of them means that they are approximately 400 metres long and around 20 metres wide.

Features of Ses Platgetes
The name of Ses Platgetes has a translation of “the small beaches”, hence the name of a group of small beaches joined by some rocky areas. All these little coves have fine white sand and the most characteristic thing of all, a wonderful turquoise sea with crystalline waters.
Another characteristic fact is that Ses Platgetes is located in an old fishing village, where small boats used to dock before making the port of La Savina the only port on the island.
That is why, before entering the beach, you will see some boats that were used by fishermen in the past. These boats are very similar to the ones we can find in Cala en Baster, located not far from this beach in a north-westerly direction.
Attention! You have to be very careful with the days that a strong tramuntana wind blows as this beach is very open and we will see the symptoms of the wind with much more force than in other beaches. If you go to this beach in these conditions anyway, you have to be extremely careful if you take a bath and obey the safety orders of the lifeguards.
What to do on Ses Platgetes beach
We are in front of a very characteristic and special beach, where you will rarely see anything like this. That’s why you have to enjoy the moment and not miss any detail of this corner.
The first thing we can do before going down to the beach is to stop at the old jetties and pay a visit to this place with so much history. There we can take some pictures in a different but very nice place.
Once you have entered Ses Platgetes and got a place there, you will be able to enjoy sunbathing and relaxing there. In addition, you can visit the back of the beach where there are some sand dunes and the most characteristic vegetation of the island.
One of the activities you can’t miss is diving. Every person who has gone there has recommended it as the main activity to do. So before leaving home make sure you take (apart from sunscreen and a bottle of refreshing water) some diving glasses and a snorkel to see the best marine species on the island.
As it is a very good place to snorkel given the great variety of fish in the area, it is also a good place to practice fishing, besides the most important thing of all, which is allowed in this area.
How to get to Ses Platgetes
If you want to know how to get to Ses Platgetes you are in the right place, as we will show you how to get there from wherever you are staying.
The easiest way is to take the main road of the island, which is the one that crosses the entire island from the port of La Savina to La Mola. The name of this road is PM 820, which we must follow and stop in a small village called Es Caló de Sant Agustí. There we will find a small car park next to the road, with limited spaces, so we recommend not to go too late.
Anyway, there is no need to worry because you can also leave your car inside the village and walk a few minutes to the beach along a footbridge that will take you to Ses Platgetes.
If you do not have your own or rented vehicle, it is also a good option to take the bus, which has a stop in Es Caló. You will find the beach about 500 metres from this stop, so you won’t have to walk long to get to paradise.
